Something Comforting

Personal Project

By Katie Silvester

A couple of months into lockdown Katie’s brother-in-law Josh approached her with a creative project idea. The idea was that for a whole month they would both shoot a roll of film each day and select one image, then share the results, she in London and he in Florida. The prospect of working on something creative was like a ray of sunshine after endless days of living in a pandemic, a reason to continue go out and create despite the unprecedented times. At the end of the 30 days, being able to lay their images side by side proved very poignant, a fascinating time capsule of that period. What was all the more amazing was how often they mirrored themes and feelings, bridging a gap between continents with their shared experiences.
